Mile High, Mile Deep

The first time I tested out this special edition, neon green Polaroid film was walking around Butte, Montana. The fascinating radioactive green color, and various shapes of chemical stains, were reminiscent of Butte's landscape and history; rich with unseen radioactivity.

Butte, Montana is home to the largest Superfund site in the country, empty mine shafts accompanied by abandoned gallaus frames between houses, and streets named after precious metals and minerals. Mile High, Mile Deep depicts people of Butte (including some family members) in a diptych with a piece of their landscape to show the effect of humans on themselves.
